Introducing Rūma Rima, 2019!

Kia ora!
I would like to introduce the so-called 'best class' at St Bernadette's School:
Rūma Rima!

We are a group of Year 6 and 7s in Mrs Lee's class.

We are a hard-working, fun-loving class with a great sense of humour.. but if we get a bit too silly, our teacher eat lollies in front of us. That makes us get back to work!

We enjoy challenges: We are reading 'Fish in a Tree' as a class novel. A character had some wasabi peas - we ate some because we were curious about what they tasted like. Some laughed.. some cried... and some wanted more!

We want to know.. is there anything your teacher does to make you angry?

If there's anything else you want to know,
Leave a comment down below!

  1. Kia ora Rūma Rima,
We loved looking at your artwork. They look amazing and it is lovely to see your faces. We thought it was funny that your teacher eats lollies in front of you. Lollies are so yum!!
The story sounds interesting. Some of us have read it a year ago. What have you found out so far in the book? We are reading Wonder as a class.
Thanks for posting a great post,
    :) Rimu Class @ Yaldhurst

    1. Hi Mrs Spragg, my name is Talia. Thanks for the comment. We found out that Ally, the girl from the book, and her brother cannot read. She told her friends but they already knew that she couldn't read. It's very interesting.
Wonder is a great book. I have watched the movie and it was kind of sad. I hope you like the story. Thanks for commenting on our class blog.

We are looking forward to replying more and commenting more on your blog, too.
      Kind regards,
      Talia

  4. Hi there Rūma Rima, My name is Abby and I am a Year 7 at Yaldhurst Model School, YMS for short if you wanted to know.

I like the way you chose a cool way to show everyone in your class. I also liked the way you explained most things about your classroom and students.

This Reminds me of the time that my class started back at school and we had a class post. Your book reminded me of one of the class books we started reading called: Goldfish Boy.

Next time you could explain why you guys chose to present yourselfs in that way.

Are you excited for the year ahead?

    Kind Regards,
    Abby.

    1. Kia Ora Abby, it's Shelby.

Thank you for commenting on our class blog and yes I am very excited for the year ahead. I love that our blog post reminded you of the book you started to read and I look forward to exchanging more comments.

To reply to your question, we have our visual mihis on the inside and the black paper is actually a cloak representing the traditional Maori cloak - korowai.

      Yours sincerely,
      Shelby.

  5. Kai Ora Rūma Rima! My name is Julia, I am a year 8 student at 'Yaldhurst Model School'.

I noticed on you artwork it said 'Ko wai au?', and I was wondering what that meant. The artwork looks very cool with everyone in triangles. I like the idea of that.

The book 'Fish in a Tree' is actually a book that my class read last year. We had a book week and we collected that book. It is very... interesting.

I think that your teacher eating lollies in front of you is very harsh. I liked your idea about eating wasabi peas. To be honest this was very easy to comment on which means your post was very good. Ka Pai!

    Kind regards
    Julia

Thanks, I think the art work looks pretty awesome too! I thought that the idea Mrs Lee came up with was gonna turn out great.

Did you enjoy the book? We don't have book week at our school but maybe one day we'll do it.

I really appreciate that you agree with us that it's harsh, the whole class thinks it's harsh... wait till you see what shes gonna do to us next.

I'm glad you liked our blog post and that it was easy for you to comment on!

Hope to reply to you again,
      Mya.

Thank you for saying you like our art work and to answer your question "Ko Wai au?" means "Who are you?" and that is the reason why we had pictures of ourselves and our own personal mihi inside a korowai (cloak).

When your class read the book Fish in a Tree did you like it? Because I'm loving it so far!

Thank you for visiting our class blog and I hope you will be able to visit again.
