Hershey's Kisses

In Rūma Rima, we like to have fun in class!

During one of the lessons on persuasive writing, we were told to go back to our desk to write the next two paragraphs of our persuasive writing.

Mrs Lee had 20 minutes on the clock and we were furiously typing away. About halfway through, Mrs Lee walked around the classroom and placed a Hershey's Kiss on each of our heads. She said it was so that we would not hunch over our devices and improve our sitting posture. She added that, if we kept the chocolate on our head for the remaining time, we would be rewarded with another one!

Some of us succeeded and got our second chocolate. But some of us didn't.. because Mrs Lee made us nod or shake our heads!

We weren't too sure if the posture exercise was successful, but it sure got a lot of us thinking about different persuasive writing topics, eg. Mrs Lee should not distract us when we are working!

  1. Hello Ruma Rima
I am Kade a year 6 from Rimu at Yaldhurst.
I like your idea of making the kids posture better when writing.
Our class should do that. Was it hard to sit straight?
    I think it would be.
    What was your favourite part?
    Mine would be eating it.
    Yours sincerely
    Kade

    1. Hi Kade, My name is Talia. Thank you for commenting. It was kind of hard to sit straight because I was leaning at first but then the hershey kiss was on my head so it was hard to get up straight. My favourite part was when it kept falling off peoples head.

      Thank you for commenting.

Did you think about telling us why you really did it tell us more is what I am saying. Why did you put the choclate on there heads.

  3. Kia Ora, I'm Zack from Yaldhurst Model School.

I enjoyed how you added some fun to it by putting choclate on the children heads so that would not hunch over their devices. I also like how you have added lots of pictures so we can picture in out head what it looks like that is good becaue then we might be able to think of a slightly different idea to do.

This brought me back to when our teacher said to me that I could have a lolly if I ate my bun faster than my friend, I remembered this because it was a comp to get a lolly as well like your comp to see if you can keep choclate on your head for 10 minutes. It also brought me back to when we had to put a book on our head walk the class to win a choclate biscute.

Next time, you could add some more pictures of the people doing this or you could add some more pictures of people failing this COOL game. You could also think about doing something like added some to the kids liked/did not like about this, that would be good because then other teachers can see what kids liked and see if they want to do it with their class.

What made you think of this cool idea?
Why did you chose Choclate instead of something healthy?

    Bye Zack from Yaldy

  4. Kia ora Ruma rima.
Man this looks like a fun way to learn and a great way to get good posture, it is also could help people type because they wouldn't be able to look at their keyboard.

By the looks of it you guys all had pretty good posture. I am going to ask if we can do something like that this year because it looks super fun.

This reminded me of when I was in Matai/ year 2 and we did the same thing with lollies.

Was it fun doing this? Did anyone get a sore neck?

Great job and awesome blogging from Thom.

  6. Kia ora Ruma Rima,

What a clever and tricky teacher Mrs Lee is. I liked the idea of good posture, it is hard to remember this when you are intensely working. I would have hoped I was a student who got an extra chocolate, because I love chocolate. Have you continued to work on good posture or are you all to busy writing speeches? Do you have a speech competition at your school?

  7. Hello Ruma Rima, I am Sam from Yaldhurst Model School,

    You are so lucky!

I wish that they gave us chocolate in our school, actually everyone
else does, though I am not a huge fan of chocolate. I am more
a fan of chewing gum and all that, though that doesn't matter right now.
Anyway, who sat still for the longest?

    Happy Blogging

    Sam
