Bonkers About Basketball!

For the past four weeks, Rūma Rima was involved in a Basketball Programme. Two coaches came to each session and taught us ball skills, different types of passes and how to do a layup.

We were lucky to have Ashleigh taking the class for all four sessions, as well as Toby and Tom from the Canterbury Rams.

We found it difficult to control the ball when we were dribbling. We got much better at this by the fourth session!

One of the games we enjoyed was 'Numbers.'
The class was split in two and lined up along the side of half a basketball court. When Ashleigh called out a number, that number of students from each team had to run onto the court and try and get the ball into the hoop by passing, dribbling and shooting the ball.

We had fun shooting hoops and were amazed at Tom and Toby's dunk shots!

Heavenly really enjoyed the sessions and was a fantastic basketball player.

We all hope to have another opportunity learning about basketball and developing more skills and knowledge about the game.

We strongly recommend you have a go, too!

  2. Kia Ora Rūma Rima,

Basketball is so much fun! I love that you guys got to have some lessons from some great coaches. The Canterbury Rams are probably very good at playing basketball.

We have a basketball team that competes in a competition on a Friday afternoon. It is a schools competition and pretty fun to be a part off. When the team started last year they didn't know much and now they are really good at dribbling, passing and shooting. Maybe you guys could put a team together and look at entering next year?

I hope that you continue to practise these skills and that you enjoy doing it.

    Thanks for sharing,

Did you think about adding what the kids have liked about this, I think that would be good because then we would know if kids like it and we might want to do it. You could also think about added some more INFO about this blog.

I think that could could work on blogging more ofden that is all I have for you to work on Well Done.

This looks like it was a whole heap of fun and you guys must be pretty skilled at basketball now. Plus it must have been pretty cool to get trained by the canterbury Rams.

I play basketball for my school and it is really fun! Who is the best at basketball in your class now? Also I played the number game at football and it was so fun and I bet it was really fun here too.

    Great blogging.

  19. Hi Ruma Rima, I am Zack from Yaldhurst.

I think this is a good blog post because there is lots of comments on it so that means that it is a good blog post, I also like that you have added lots of pictures not only that you have added lots of words aswell I think this is good because it shows that you put lots of effort into this blog post. I also think this is a really good blog post because there is some really good words and its fun to read because it spread out and you have written what the kids like about it aswell. The last reason this blog post is AMAZING! Is simply because its one of your most veiwed posts.

I think you could improve on putting all of your pictures into one big doc so its not like a toilet roll LOL. I think that this would make a huge improvment because it would mean that you dont have to scroll for a long time and you will be able to see more blogs that you have done if they are not to big, I also think you could improve on adding some more on what skills you learnt not just about how you liked it.

What made you do this blog?

    Bye Zack from Yaldhy!
