Week 1: In the Beginning

Activity ONE: The First Settlers

Māui is a demi god from Māori myths and legends. Here are some interesting facts I have found out about him.
1. It is said that he caught the North Island with a fishing hook and used the South Island as a waka!
2. Māui has many brothers and he is the youngest of the lot. He is also very mischievous and will get up to a lot of trouble.
3.

I watched the movie Moana where Māui was the demi god who helped Moana save her land. He was very arrogant and stubborn. He has magic powers and could turn into different animals (shape-shifter).  The Maui in the movie is much nicer than the one in the story as he becomes good friends with Moana.

I have attached a image I created, representing the story of Maui.

Leaving my mark on the cluster

WALT create a logo for the Uru Mānuka Cluster.

We were given the task of designing a logo for the cluster as it did not have one. I thought it would be fun to design a logo myself - even if I did not compete for the prize!

We discussed the significance of the name of the cluster and also the mānuka tree itself.

My design has a Mānuka Tree planted inside Hornby - the frame is a rough sketch of the Hornby area, taken from a street map. I chose to use only a few colours and to keep the design as simple as possible.

Remote Control - Tweeny paunga

The remote control

Slowly I reached into the bag and grabbed my remote and I pulled it out of the box.

And I saw the back it had no batteries so I went to the store to buy batteries.

When I got home I put the batteries in the remote.    

So I watched a movie after and suddenly I got distracted by something and then I missed out

On a part of the movie so I quickly clicked rewind and suddenly it didn't change so I checked

the batteries to see if it wasn't working but there was nothing wrong with it. So I looked behind me and then my dad was un-eating his food so I clicked fast forward then he was eating so fast

I clicked pause.

My dad stopped eating Immediately. I went to the kitchen to check on my dad and he was completely solid. So I unfreezed my dad. My mum ran with shock into the kitchen.

" are you alright, honey" she said.  "I'm fine" said dad. It was me that froze dad.

"Give me that remote" said mum in a threatening voice."you will NOT have that remote forever" she said. And that was the end of my remote control.

Hello there my name is Lenny, so let's get into the store. There I am in my house, and then the postman. When I went to the mailbox, I saw same of the werdis, you could see… it was a Remote, made out of chocolate.I fast it at a person and then they frost in the air. Said to my safe did I taw you that I i had bullies at my school, they were bigger then me, so back to the store when it was monday i said to my mum & dad bye, I am going to school mum & dad said ok son thx when I was going I school put the Remote in my bag when I got to school and I sore the boles and I push the pos the big one and… boon! I prest the one that said get TNT and.

I sore all of the body parts flying a aron the school the cis nle fainted

My Encounter With the Demon Hunter: Part 1

My encounter with the demon hunter part 1

It all started on my way to… Its werd I, I cant rember. Maybe I should ask mum. ¨mum where was I when I found that remote control¨. ¨You were on your way to school¨. ¨Ok¨. So when I was on my way to school I saw something in the dissidents it it was a remote control. I picked it up and then there was this weird nose. I think it was the demon hunter. I put the remote control in my bag and ran to school. Nothing much happened at school just plan old school for the rest of the week. On the weekend we went to the museum with my casen hayden for a put and then the demon hunter jumped out of nowhere and shot me with an arrow in the eye. And then I was floating and I could see hayden with the remote control an an the demon hunter. I, I can't touch anything hayden watch out!!! He, he missed. Ha what a relief. Wait my legs they're disappearing. Now my stomach. Hayden haydeeeeenn. Im gone into a void and and the demon hunter. TO BE CONTINUED

THE DEMON HUNTER RETURNS!!!!!

After Jimmy's encounter with the demon hunter Jimmy's eye was shot he had a remote control which he said could freeze people rewind fast forward them after he was shot me.The demon hunter got it and slipped in the museum where jimmy's death was. He then dropped the controller I quickly ran over about the speed of sonic grabbed the controller and the demon hunter vanished in thin air.After Jimmy's body was found  I went to the funeral on the weekends but The Demon hunter came he tried shooting at me but he missed I felt jimmy's essences and the demon hunter disappeared once again. The next day which was day 2 of the weekends I walked out of the door to play some basketball at my house the demon hunter was there I then quickly sped into my house and quickly got the remote and froze him then after 3 minutes he unfroze Jimmy told me that the person you freeze will unfreeze in 3 minutes I went to the city running as fast as I can.So hard I felt like my lungs burnt he then teleported in front of me and shot the arrow I froze him again but this time it only took 1 minute for him to unfreeze and used a skill of his I recognised the lava rock speed dash.That move he did was from the game diablo so it was a demon hunter from a game my dad loves.So I went to the house and told my dad I told him "Dad you know diablo and the demon hunter yeah he's real what " and he saw it. It's evil I said he knew a way to stop him throw a poison potion at him and an instant kill we went to a lab we made the potion but he would just follow us i'll hold him back I froze him and rewind him backwards my dad made it and then he threw it at him and died but I knew it was wrong so I said to dad i'm gonna go back in time why he said.It was wrong to kill him so I had to go rewind and when I got there I said " stop demon hunter please stop i'll give you this controller and you'll leave us alone and it worked and what happened to the controller  that's your decision and Byeee BUT BEWARE the DEMON hunter will get you one day so be careful wahahahaha hahahahahaha!!!!!!!

On a stormy and foggy morning. I was walking to school while I was walking something catches my attention it was shiny and it was in the gutter tho but I still wanted to grab it so I grabbed it and ran, to school when. I got to school I looked at it it was a remote rushed over to my friends they tried to steal it off me but they couldn't, when I got into class there was something on the TV that I didn't like so I pointed the remote to just see if the remote could  pause what was going on the TV,  I pressed the pause, button but it didn't pause the TV it paused the person standing in front of the TV I was amazed so was  everyone else.Then I pressed unpause and the person started to move again I went outside and saw what I could   do outside while I was playing around with it it fell out of my hand and the person who I froze picked it up.Then  he tried   to freeze me I ran back to class but I didn't tell the, teacher or she would have broken it so ran down the corridor to my little cousin room and when I got there I stopped and tripped him up, and took the remote and put it back in the gutter I wonder if someone else will find the amazing remote control.

I didn't mean for this to happen but slowly the man began to reach down to the shimmery remote control When I quickly snatched the remote control out of his wrinkly old hand and I ran as fast as I could down to school just as I arrived the school bell rang I was thinking what to say at my history talk well anyway. I went to the classroom and went to my desk.When I heard Zan willis come up to the front please I  went up to the front and started saying my speech. Just then I realized the remote in my pocket that I  took from that old man but I Left it and I kept on speaking when I was finished I went back to my desk and everyone clapped except for one person efron jason he's the bully in the school he booed once I  had finished all I wanted to do was go up to my desk grab him and chuck him against the room then some other people got called like emily lea mia. I didn't care tho. just as I  was thinking about throwing efron across the room i felt this power and my hand went into my pocket I tried to stop my hand from pulling it out but my hand just wouldn't stop so I had the remote then all of a sudden the remote pointed at efron my finger pressed the pause button and he froze in the booing position then his friend jason went to chat to him. He started talking to him but efron didn't listen then he looked at me and I smiled back and he glazed at me in this mean face then I turned around to look at the teacher then the teacher called out efron's name and he didn't stand up then I unpaused him and the teacher repeated his name then he stood up and walked up to the front and started talking then the bell rang to go home so I packed up and left I was walking passed the bank and I  didn't mean to but i pressed the pause button on the remote and a bunch of people froze. Then I ran up to them and touched them then I ran back and i walked home then my mum and dad said" where have you been" and I said with a smirky smile on my face I said um i've been in class. Efron held us up and after that the remote was never to be seen again^.^

My hand reached out to grab the remote I didn't mean for this to happen,but… I found a Flash remote. It was under my bed at home so I picked it up when I went to bed and  I had a good look at it. In the morning I put it in my bag for school,my Mum said get dressed. So I did after that I walked to school when I got there I put my bag down and I sat at my table. My Teacher Mrs Lee was talking about boring stuff so I grabbed my bag and picked out my remote and I put it in my hands.  And then I froze the whole class and I took  Mrs Lee chocolate and her lunch then I went through  her cupboards and I stole her fruit burst. Unfroze the whole class and I ran away to home. Everyone said WHAT HAPPENED and then I started to crack  up laughing.

     MY hand reached out and grabbed a remote control  when I was walking to go school, then a car came past then I  saw my friend Micah.  I was thinking to show him the remote but suddenly  my tummy started to hurt.I tried  hard to try not to tell anyone and the teacher but  my tummy  was getting worser. I really wanted to tell the teacher but then the bell rang then I went in my secret spot  and I press all the the button then I moved my hand and pointed the remote to the sky. Then a bird came past then I pressed procurers then the bird was still and I was waiting  for the bird to move. Then the bell rang then I waited until everybody went to class then I went to class. Then we were listening to the teacher then I asked if I can go toilet then  I went to my secret spot then I saw the bird and it was still there then  I pressed play then the bird flew away. Then  I  was feeling better then i went back to class and then it was time to go outside to play then police came over to our school because there was a bad person that broke into the  school and then I saw him in  the staffroom and I went into the staffroom  and said to him WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING IN THE TEACHERS STAFFROOM. THEN I GOT OUT MY REMOTE AND I FROZE HIM. THEN  THE POLICE CAME AND TOOK HIM THEN I PULLED THE TONGUE AT HIM.

By mum i'm going for a bike ride. As I was biking something caught my eye. I picked it up it  was a remote I pressed the pause button nothing, happend a car went past suddenly it stopped. I pressed unpause it went again.  I speed bake home I paused my family then I jumped in the car and drove to my friends we went to the diary and froze the lady, and got as many lollies as we wanted. Later on  we  went back to my friends  place  and  came home.  Then I   unfreeze my parents but it didn't work. I didn't mean for this to happen  there was only one thing I could do I pressed rewind all there lunch came out. then they came back to  before I froze them. From then on the remote was put away for good.

Monarch Butterfly

1 = First a monarch butterfly comes along and lays a very, very tiny egg on a leaf. It is so small you can only see a white dot.

2 = It takes a week to hatch. Out comes a tiny caterpillar!

3 = Then, for a week, the caterpillar eats all of the leaves and gets fatter, fatter and fatter.

4 = Then the caterpillar makes a chrysalis and hangs off a branch.

5 = It has to wait a week to come out of its chrysalis and it has to wait again. It has to dry its wings.

6 = Then it can fly away.

1. First the adult butterfly comes along and lays a tiny little egg on a leaf. It's white it looks like a little spot.

2. Then after 1 week it hatches into a tiny little caterpillar that's very hard to see.

3. Later on the caterpillar grows bigger and bigger and it gets very fat.

4. Then it curls up and and forms a cocoon

5. After a week it hatches into a beautiful butterfly. It's wings are very wet so it takes a few days for them to dry.

6. Once they're dry the butterfly flies away.

Step 1

The adult butterfly comes and lays about eggs on the leaf's of the swan plant.

Step 2

After the adult butterfly has laid an egg on the leaf the egg turns into a tiny caterpillar.

Step 3

Then the tiny caterpillar eats loads of leaves and food that it becomes fatter and fatter .

Step 4

After the caterpillar has eaten loads it decides to curl into a ball and then it grows skin over it and becomes a chrysalis

Step 5

After a week the chrysalis turns into beautiful black and yellow butterfly

Step 6

Once the butterfly has got out of the  chrysalis  it stays outside to dry its wings then it flies off and once it an adult the life cycle goes all over again.😀

A monarch butterfly goes to a swan plant and lays a tiny, tiny egg. Then it takes a week for a caterpillar to hatch out of the egg. Then when it is a caterpillar, it takes another week for it to become a fat, fat caterpillar, because it eats all the leaves. Then when they get fat they turn into a chrysalis. It takes a week again for it to hatch into a monarch butterfly. Then it takes them a few days to get their wings to dry so they can fly away. When it flies away it can have fun and live in freedom.

After it's eaten some leaves it becomes a fat, fat, FAT caterpillar. Then it  turns into a  chrysalis. After one week the chrysalis cracks and finally it becomes a butterfly! Before it flies off, it waits until the wings are all dried. Then it flies away.
